ROC Launches Shoebox Appeal to Support Shiloh Rotherham

Rotherham Opportunities College is proud to launch a new community project led by our passionate Student Council — the ROC Shoebox Appeal for Shiloh Rotherham, a local charity providing vital support to people experiencing homelessness.

Our students have been vocal about wanting to make a real difference in the community. Their commitment grew even stronger after recently sharing their ideas with former Mayor Cllr Rukhsana Ismail, who encouraged them to keep championing positive change.

Last week, we welcomed Sarah Smart CEO of Shiloh Rotherham to ROC for an eye‑opening presentation about the charity’s work. They shared powerful stories about the challenges faced by people who use Shiloh’s services, ending with a moving video testimonial from one of their guests. It reminded us all why kindness, dignity and practical support matter so much.

What We’re Collecting

Our students are now inviting the whole ROC community to get involved by donating items that can be packed into shoeboxes and delivered to Shiloh. Every single item helps.

  • Wet wipes (water‑based, not baby wipes)
  • Pot Noodles
  • Deodorant (roll‑on)
  • Cereal bars
  • Socks (adult sizes)
  • Small juice cartons
  • Packets of biscuits
  • Chocolate bars
  • Jelly pots
  • Tinned meat
  • Shoeboxes

These items will be packed by our students and delivered directly to Shiloh.

Donation Deadline

All donations must be received by: Wednesday 15th July 2026

Items can be dropped off at ROC during college hours.

Thank you to everyone who donates. Your kindness will help Shiloh continue to support people in Rotherham.
