Pride in the Park: ROC Students Celebrate Pride Month at Clifton Park 🏳️‍🌈

Our students filled Clifton Park with colour, confidence and community spirit as we celebrated Pride in the Park for Pride Month. The event brought students and staff together to champion inclusion, self expression and the message that everyone deserves to feel proud of who they are.

The day began with a joyful Makaton sing and sign performance of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. Students signed the lyrics with confidence and pride, turning the song into a powerful message of visibility and acceptance. It set a positive and uplifting tone for the rest of the celebration.

After the performance, students headed onto the field for a lively sports session. They took part in team games, encouraged one another and enjoyed being active in the sunshine. The highlight was a friendly staff versus students rounders match which brought plenty of laughter and competitive spirit. Both teams showed great teamwork and created a fun and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved.

Our drama group then opened the afternoon with a powerful performance exploring accepting yourself and others no matter your differences. Students created scenes about friendship, identity and belonging, showing how kindness and understanding can make every space more inclusive. Their performance was thoughtful, brave and full of heart, and the audience responded with warm applause.

Throughout the afternoon, students enjoyed time together, taking photos, sharing stories and showing support for one another. Pride in the Park was more than an event. It was a reminder of the strength of our ROC community and the importance of creating spaces where every young person feels seen, valued and celebrated.

We are incredibly proud of our learners for leading the way in inclusion and for making this year’s Pride in the Park a truly memorable celebration.
