Rotherham Opportunities College is proud to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection, we have been rated as “Good”. This marks a significant achievement in our journey of continuous improvement and highlights the dedication of our staff and the progress our students are making.
The inspection team commended our highly inclusive environment, noting the high aspirations we hold for our students. “Leaders and managers have created a curriculum offer that meets the needs of students with high needs,” the report states. “Students develop in independence and confidence,” which truly reflects the comprehensive approach we take to support their growth.
Our commitment to providing a calm and caring learning environment was also recognised. The report highlights that “students feel safe and know that staff are safe people to talk to.” This, combined with our strong focus on personal development, means that learners not only gain the skills they need to progress academically, but also develop as individuals ready to thrive in their future ventures, whether that be paid employment, independent living or volunteering opportunities.
Ofsted also praised our extensive careers guidance, with students receiving “valuable and comprehensive careers information” and strong support to progress into employment. Our Supported Internship Programme has been particularly successful, with all students progressing into paid employment over the past three years.
While we celebrate this positive outcome, we are also aware of areas where further progress can be made. The report highlighted the need for even more consistent feedback to students. We are committed to addressing this, to continue providing the highest quality education and support to our students.
