Supporting Charities

Our charitable work

Each year, staff and students support the work of a local charitable organisation. The work undertaken each year helps our students to build confidence and play an active part in the communities in which they live. Our charitable work also gives our students the chance to the put the skills they learn in the classroom into practice, whilst also supporting good causes.

In 2024/25 our chosen charity party is Sam’s Army’s Mission. The organisation was founded to raise awareness about the dangers of open following the tragic death of Sam Haycock, who drowned in 2021. In recent years, the organisation has helped to fund vital life-saving equipment near open water.

We have a number of different fundraising activities planned throughout the year, keep up-to-date with our latest work via our news page and Facebook channel.

Last year, our students , undertook a range of fundraising activities for our chosen charity partner, Rotherham Hospital & Community Charity during the next 12 months, to support the charity’s Tiny Toes appeal. The appeal has successfully raised more than £150,000 which will be used to fund the redevelopment of Rotherham District General Hospital’s Neonatal Unit.

Over the past year our students undertook a range of fundraising activities including taking part in a fun run, collecting coats to help vulnerable people leaving hospital to keep warm, as well as holding fundraising events in college.

Our fun run alone helped to raise £500 for the charity’s work and in total, Students at ROC raised more than £1000 for the appeal!
