Employability

Employability Pathway

A two year programme which prepares students for life after college

Employability Pathway at Rotherham Opportunities College

This pathway aims to work on refining skills already attained with a focus on exploring different types of jobs and preparing for work. Working with students from Entry 2 to Level 2 on functional maths, English and employability skills together with access to independent living skills, ICT and travel training.

Intent

All students will further develop personal skills and explore their employability choices. Promotion of positive well-being, development of confidence and independence runs through all pathways and students will access work experience linked to their personal aspirations.

Implementation

Students are assessed continually, and targeted support is provided. Students will work towards personal targets as a measure of progress and there will be opportunities for some students to access more formal accredited qualifications in areas of personal development and employability, academic and vocational learning.

Students will access work experience with measured support working towards two days per week over time. Students will be supported to transition from college through multi agency work and our experienced team at ROC carefully work alongside students, their families and carers to ensure that the best outcomes are achieved and students are supported to achieve their aspirations for living and work.

Impact

This pathway will prepare students to feel confident that they are equipped with the skills they need to flourish in the community and wider world.

Students will gain meaningful qualifications and skills to stand them in good stead to access work opportunities.

Students will develop a range of strategies to give them independence, confidence and resilience to succeed beyond college.
